Corporate Background

MMI Academy (MMIA) is one of the leading private educational institutions specializing in early childhood education courses. Established in 2010 as the wholly owned subsidiary training arm of the Modern Montessori International Group, MMIA’s core aim is to ensure that it provides a conducive learning environment for its students. Nestled in the heart of the Central Business District, MMIA’s growth and development over the years has earned itself a distinguished reputation.

MMIA’s history began when The Modern Montessori International Group (MMI) was set up  in 1989 to introduce the Montessori Method of Education to Singapore. MMIA initially started as a business school and pre-school education training school. In 2010 the two training arms were merged to form MMIA. Today, the MMI Group has grown to encompass 28 pre-school centres in Singapore and a full-fledged training school.

The phenomenal growth of MMI did not happen by chance. It was built on sheer guts and perseverance. The journey started when MMI was born 21 years ago in an old shop-house in Victoria Street, as a Montessori enrichment centre. In 1994, teacher-training in the Montessori Method of Education was offered.

Subsequently, MMI pre-school centres sprouted all over Singapore. With the growing popularity of Montessori Method of Education and the dedication of MMI lecturers and teachers, MMI soon became a household name in the field of Early Childhood Education. The MMI brand name is equated with a stamp of quality and assurance. MMI has achieved many prestigious accreditations like ISO 9001-2000, Singapore Quality Class (SQC) for Private Education Organizations, Singapore Franchise Mark, Open and Distance Learning Quality Accreditation (U.K.) etc.

Today, MMI has made inroads into many countries in the Asia-Pacific region like Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Kenya and Egypt. The vast experience accumulated in the last 21 years has ensured smooth replication of business and operation models in these countries. The wide acceptance of the MMI education model in those countries is most heartening and encouraging.

MMI Academy has also ventured into other Early Childhood Education courses besides the Diploma in Montessori Method of Education (2½ - 6 Years). MMI Academy has developed a full curriculum for the Certificate in

Early Childhood Care & Education (CECCE) and Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education – Teaching (DECCE-T) which are registered under the Enhanced Registration Framework (ERF) and accredited by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA). The Fundamental Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education (FCECCE) is accredited by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).

MMI also donates a considerable share of its corporate income to charity - especially to the education trust fund for needy children.
